Mission:
The
purpose of the Ohio Gamers Organization is to promote the general interest of
Games and Fandom as it relates to community, consumers, education and
entertainment within the state of Ohio.
History:
OGO was founded in 2005 as a Non-Profit Organization by Jack Stewart to
encourage fellowship between members of the gaming communities throughout the
state of Ohio.
OGO got its roots from another group, under a different name as a small 15 person group based out of Kent State University. Under the leadership of Matt Ferrell and the guidance of Jack Stewart moved the small gaming group off campus, filed for Non-profit status as the OGO and on April 1st, 2005 officially announced the debut of the Ohio Gamers Organization.
Over the course of the past 2 years the OGO has grown to over 400 members across Ohio and has expanded to a multitude of different interests, everything from Games in Education to Small Business Involvement Initiatives.
The Future:
As we enter a new year, we look to focus on the growth potential of the OGO,
Focusing not only on generating our own funding; but seeking grants and loans
for external funding; filling many empty positions within the staff structure
of the organization; and seeking to improve the overall value and effectiveness
of the OGO to our members and business relationships.
